new zealand cycle tour

About us

Welcome to the New Zealand Charity Cycle Challenge website. This website has all you need to know about the 4 lads's journey across New Zealand. Details of the training regimes, personal profiles and explanations of why the lads are attempting this challenge can be found on the links above. During their time away Christiaan will be updating the website whenever possible with blogs, videos and photographs so people can follow the journey throughout. Good to hear that everyone is following our progress and everyone is still giving us massive support back home, and that Mr Winch is keeping emmanuel posted with what is going on in NZ.

There are many people they would like to thank for the opportunity to complete this life changing event. Firstly, and most obviously there is the reason why they are taking up this challenge, and that is to thank those people that work in the Intensive Treatment Unit that they are raising the money for. Thanks are due to them for giving Mark the opportunity to live his life and enjoy such experiences as our trip. Next, they would like to thank Emmanuel and Mr Winch for all the support from the school. Everyone who has sponsored the lads as well deserves a big pat on the back as its your support that is needed for this trip to be a success. Last but not least, is RealGap whom have organised the trip for the lads, and have been so supportive in helping them with any queries or changes they have needed to make in their programme.

All money that they raise goes to the RVI ITU, and they will be presenting the money that they raise when they come back from New Zealand sometime in 2010. Their aim is to raise around £8,000, which although is a very high target, it is an achievable target with your help and generosity. So far they have already raised around £2500 just from their family and school, with this figure rising every day.

Currently they are all working to pay for the trip, whilst continuing their training. Christiaan, Mark and Michael are working for the NHS in Antiviral Collection Points as Issuer/Validators and Iain is a caretaker at Bede Academy. They have been training for the past 8 months and were planning on completing the ‘coast to coast’ from Whitehaven to Tynemouth before the bad weather hit at the start of the year.
